In Our Mind's Eye (IOME) - Ben Kreukniet
In Our Mind’s Eye is an installation about the limit of human senses and how we use technology to expand this area. This creation is based on the premise that a large percentage of reality comes from what we cannot directly observe and what we see only in our mind's eye. At the same time, the work acts as a tool for studying the mechanisms behind human vision and attempting to overcome the separation between our perceptions of light and sound.
The installation’s starting point is human trichromatic vision: the sensitivity of our eyes to long, medium and short wavelengths of light (red, green and blue), and consequently the design of cameras and digital screens with RGB light sensors and diodes. The result is a perceptive feedback loop between humans, technology and nature, where technologies for capturing and showing images originally designed according to the senses control the way we see and experience the world.
Lunar oscillations - Xavi Bové Studio
Lunar oscillations is a contemplative piece about the perception of a variable environment, a universe of dynamic moons and stars.
This site-specific light and sound action is based on the influence of the moon on the seas, oceans and living beings. It explores the sensations experienced by individuals by transforming space with a game of moving light and shadows. And it does this by turning the Escales Room at Utopia 126 into a hypnotic night sky, inviting you to immerse yourself in a living space.
Visitors will be surrounded by moving stars, white dots with their beams of light sketched in space, with different moons lighting up as they move from the ceiling to the floor. The work is completed by a heavenly, relaxing soundtrack in which each moon produces a specific sound and draws a cosmic sound and visual landscape in the room.
The installation work has no beginning and no end. It uses algorithms that operate independently and in a variable manner, allowing visitors to experience it at their own pace.
