Located in the heart of the Raval, the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) is an open space that fosters reflection on the conflicts of the present through a wide range of formats, exhibitions and activities.

The CCCB is a multidisciplinary cultural centre dedicated to exploring the major issues of contemporary society through different languages and formats, with an extensive programme that includes major thematic exhibitions, lecture series, literary encounters, audiovisual screenings and festivals, among others.

In the past, the CCCB was under the authority of the Barcelona Provincial Council and, briefly, the Government of Catalonia. Today it occupies the former Casa de Caritat (1802–1957), a self-funded hospice that historically provided vocational training and services for disadvantaged people.

In 2011, the CCCB incorporated a new building, the Teatre CCCB, the former theatre of the Casa de Caritat. This new facility includes the Sala Teatre, a multi-purpose hall with a capacity of 500 spectators, and the Sala Raval, which can accommodate up to 170 people.
