ANNUAL FESTIVAL MORNING

Once the authorities have reached City Hall, and the Mayor is on the balcony, it will be time for one of the most solemn parts of the festival: the dances of the Àliga de la Ciutat and the Gegants de la Ciutat [City Eagle and the City Giants]. There are many figures in the festive imaginary but these have a special meaning. They are the city’s main folk figures, and the Barcelona Municipal Band plays the official music so they can do their dances at this most important time in the festival. Be silent and open your eyes wide.
