Local festival in the old quarter of the neighbourhoods of Sant Pere, Santa Caterina and La Ribera

Popular festivals. Popular culture, music, gastronomy, dance and lots of community life will fill the streets of the Old Town of Barcelona.

From 18 to 30 June, the neighbourhoods of Sant Pere, Santa Caterina and La Ribera celebrate their Festa Major with a full programme of activities to suit all ages and tastes.

The festival will kick off on Wednesday 18 June, with the parade of the Giants of the Old Town, who this year will also be in charge of reading the proclamation at the opening ceremony of the festival, at the Convent de Sant Agustí Civic Centre.

Over the Festa Major weekend, visitors can enjoy different guided tours and open houses at cultural facilities in the neighbourhood, such as the Ciutadella Greenhouse or the Martorell Exhibition Centre.

Music will also be the protagonist; a day of jazz will be held in Plaça Comercial, and in the parish of Sant Pere de les Puel·les, visitors can take in the music of Vivaldi.

On 23 June, the Casc Antic Neighbourhood Association will host St John's Eve festivities on Passeig Lluís Companys. At 9:00 p.m. the Camigó flame will arrive and at 10:00 p.m. the bonfire will be lit. Then, musical performances and DJs until dawn.

The last weekend of the Festa Major will be full of activities for all audiences, and like every year, fire will be the protagonist.
