Katerina Gordéieva, winner of the Anna Politkóvskaia award 2022, talks to journalist Manel Alías, former Moscow correspondent, about the importance of first-hand accounts in shaping the narrative on the war in Ukraine. This event coincides with the recent publication of her book Emporta’t el meu dolor [“Take My Grief Away”] (Comanegra, 2025).

Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022, the journalist and documentary film-maker Katerina Gordéieva has been visiting refugee centres across Europe and Russia with the aim of documenting the brutality of war. Emporta’t el meu dolor [“Take My Grief Away”] includes twenty-four testimonies that tell the tragic tales of those caught up in the conflict. Through these voices, the book explores the limits of resistance in the face of loss and devastation.
