‘How to Design a Revolution: The Chilean Road to Design’

Traductor de Google:

Graphic design. A comprehensive exhibition on graphic and industrial design from the period when Salvador Allende governed Chile (1970-1973).

How to Design a Revolution: The Chilean Road to Design presents an exceptional case in the history of design, where the unusual act of choosing revolution by vote led, for the first time, to a country's decision to design jointly through socialism and democracy.

The show, which was held in Santiago de Chile as part of the activities to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the civilian-military coup d’etat, displayed original pieces and reproductions of the designs that sought to democratise reading and music, lower technology dependency and overcome child malnutrition, among other challenges.

One of the most prominent pieces in the exhibition is the first complete, functional reproduction of the Cybersyn operations room, a project that sought networked communication among the country's industries through participatory management of production, a milestone in the history of cybernetics.
