Valérie Belin (1964) is a French artist who, after studying art and philosophy, made photography the focus of her practice.

Since the 1990s, she has introduced the human figure to question identity and simulation with series such as Bodybuilders, Transsexuels, Femmes noires and Mannequins. From 2006 onward, she incorporated colour and developed a language she defines as "magical realism," in which the figure becomes a hybrid of flesh, icon and illusion.
