Festivities for Sant Josep Oriol

Popular festivals. Giants, popular music, parades and children’s activities fill the Pi neighbourhood with celebrations, revelry and most of all, popular culture.

The Pi neighbourhood will be celebrating from 15 to 23 March, with the Festes de Sant Josep Oriol.

The festivities for Sant Josep Oriol honour this Barcelona saint, who was born in and lived in the district of Ciutat Vella in the 17th century, with some quite unique activities: the robberies by the local highwayman Perot lo Lladre; the theatrical piece known as the ‘Retaule de Sant Josep Oriol’, the ‘Emmulassa’t’ parade by the city’s Mule figure, festive beast figures, the parade known as the ‘Passejada dels Oriols’… and the popular chocolate coins for the occasion which depict the miracles by the saint.
