When the first song on an album is called Tienes que saber esto [You Need to Know This] and includes part of a speech by the late Pepe Mujica, that’s what you’d call a clear statement of intent. That is the powerful introduction to the new urban rock album by a band that refuses to grow old. In 2024, they released La juventud [Youth], an album that the band is still touring, with songs about never-ending parties, never going back to work and never forgetting someone. El verano [Summer], Lo que hay en mí [Pent-Up], Sácame a bailar [Take Me Dancing]... All these songs (plus La juventud, of course) will be part of the lineup in a concert where Kokoschca, who have reached a certain age, are torn between continuing to party or becoming slaves to work, and challenge gentrification and unbridled capitalism in songs such as Mi barrio [My Neighbourhood] and Parkour.
