The Àliga de la Ciutat, el Bou, la Víbria, el Drac, la Tarasca, els Gegants de la Ciutat, el Lleó, la Mulassa, els Falcons and other figures from Barcelona’s festive imaginary head to Plaça de Sant Jaume accompanied by devils, drummers and the rest of the People’s Procession. They reach Plaça de Sant Jaume in a solemn procession so the traditional festival can kick off with the Opening Ceremony. 

Let’s be clear: nobody should miss the Opening Ceremony, not even a Bèstia Bee and a Geganta Bee that were recently created by the artisans of Barcelona and Manchester. They have just arrived at La Mercè to represent the guest city: Manchester. The bee is a symbol of the hard work, unity and resilience of the people of Manchester.
