Synopsis

Verónica Estay Stange, daughter of victims of the Chilean dictatorship and niece of a perpetrator of the horror, Miguel Estay, alias El Fanta, undertakes a personal journey to fill the silences that divided her family and reinterpret the trauma experienced by the second generation after traumatic events. Half a century has passed since the dictatorships in Spain, Chile, Argentina, and many other countries. When tyranny as a form of government seemed a thing of the past, it is more necessary than ever to remember how easily any of us can fall into evil through frustration, resentment, or fear, fuelled by uncertainty. The fragility of our democracies leads us to accept violations of fundamental rights in the name of security and even freedom. Exploring the grey areas helps us gauge our complicity with horror.
