47th Cursa de la Mercè Bimbo Global Race

Fun Run. The run has a new route around the centre of Barcelona.

As part of the programme for the La Mercè festivities, the streets of Barcelona are once again set to fill with runners on 21 September, for the Cursa de la Mercè Bimbo Global Race.

The new circuit brings the fun run to the heart of the city, with the start line in C/ Aragó (corner with Pau Claris) and the finish line in Pl. Catalunya, taking in iconic spaces such as Passeig de Sant Joan, Arc de Triomf, the Pavelló Blau, Av. Paral·lel and Ronda Sant Antoni.

The event maintains its three categories:

  • Classic 10k.
  • Inclusive 2k for people with reduced mobility or intellectual disability.
  • Family run of 1,609 m (one mile), designed for people to enjoy as a group and non-competitive in spirit.

A free child-minding service will also be available for children between the ages of 3 and 11.

All the money raised in this edition will go to the Alzheimer Catalunya Fundació.

As part of the La Mercè festivities, the streets of Barcelona will once again get ready for throngs of athletes and running enthusiasts on 21 September. The 47th edition of the Cursa de la Mercè Bimbo Global Race will feature the usual 10K and 2K races, and for the second year running, it will include the Family Race, a non-competitive category open to participants of all ages. The aim of this initiative is to promote family participation, making the activity a fun, healthy experience for everyone.


10K RACE ROUTE:

  • Start: C. Aragó, near C. Pau Claris.
  • Route: C. Aragó, near C. Pau Claris to Av. de Roma, right turn on C. Casanova and right turn again on C. València as far as Pg. de Sant Joan, then right turn on Pg. Lluís Companys, going down the right side with traffic. Right turn on C. Pujades and then left turn on Pg. Picasso as far as Av. Marquès d'Argentera, with a right turn, Pg. d'Isabel II, Pg. Colom to the roundabout at Pl. de les Drassanes. Right turn to take Av. del Paral·lel until a right turn on C. Entença. Right turn on C. Floridablanca, left turn on Ronda Sant Antoni, Pl. Universitat, right turn on C. Pelai, left turn on Pl. Catalunya to the finish line near C. Bergara.
  • Finish line: Pl. Catalonia.

ROUTE OF THE INCLUSIVE 2K RACE:

  • Start: corner of C. Tamarit and C. Entença.
  • Route: corner of C. Tamarit and C. Entença, right turn on C. Rocafort (with the 10K Race) until a right turn on C. Floridablanca, left turn on Ronda Sant Antoni, Pl. Universitat, right turn on C. Pelai, left turn and reach Pl. Catalunya.
  • Finish line: Pl. Catalunya.

FAMILY RACE ROUTE:

  • Start: Pl. Catalunya.
  • Route: Pl. Catalunya, C. Pelai, Pl. Universitat, Ronda Sant Antoni until past C. Joaquim Costa, then a 360º turn to retrace the route as far as Pl. Catalunya.
  • Finish line: Pl. Catalunya.
