‘The Portraits of Alain Cavalier’ season

Traductor de Google:

Cinema. A series of portraits of women workers in their working environments, under Cavalier’s discreet, detail-oriented and poetic gaze.

Alain Cavalier started his career in classic fiction film, but from the 1980s onwards, he began to develop an ever more intimate, personal and minimalist style. Between 1987 and 1991 he shot a series of portraits of women workers - artisans and professionals - in their working environments - many of which were facing extinction - as a kind of “hand-made” cinema, in keeping with the trades portrayed.

In the manner of personal encounters, they show the relationship between the person, their trade or craft, their work space and their body, highlighting the dignity, creativity and presence of everyday acts.
