Synopsis

Fernando Atienza, a car thief from the age of thirteen in the slums of Montjuïc, the son of ambitious financiers from the upper area in his early youth, and the king of the dealers until he was in his early thirties in the streets around the Plaça Reial, travelled from the late Franco regime to the transition and the Olympic dream of 1992. But the day that hit him the hardest was "the day of the Watusi": 15 August 1971, the day he saw a corpse (or two) for the first time. That foundational moment, from then on, will accompany him every second of his life.

The day of the Watusi is the adaptation of the thrilling novel that won the Francisco Casavella Nadal Prize.

Iván Morales adapta la trepidant novel·la que va consagrar el Premi Nadal Francisco Casavella: una festa escènica sobre la Barcelona dels últims trenta anys del segle xx que fa entendre millor la ciutat d’avui.

Fernando Atienza, lladre de cotxes des dels catorze anys a les barraques de Montjuïc, noi dels encàrrecs de financers ambiciosos de la zona alta a la primera joventut, i rei dels trapis fins als trenta-pocs pels carrerons tocant la Plaça Reial, viatja del tardofranquisme a la transició i al somni olímpic del 92. Però cap dia no li ha deixat una empremta més forta que “el dia del Watusi”: el 15 d’agost de 1971, el dia que va veure un cadàver (o dos) per primera vegada. Aquell moment fundacional, a partir de llavors, l’acompanyarà cada segon de la seva vida.
