DocsBarcelona will be taking place from 2 to 12 May at the Barcelona Centre for Contemporary Culture (CCCB) and Cinemes Renoir Floridablanca, opening with Arun Bhattarai and Dorottya Zurbó’s Agent of Happiness, at Cinemes Phenomena.

This 27th edition of the festival features the most vibrant, authentic and committed films released over the last year, to bring you the best documentaries from all over the world, some of which will be screened for the very first time here in our city, together with others that have recently premièred in major festivals worldwide.

The colonial gaze, memory and dignity, artificial intelligence, and the different forms and expressions of love are some of the key themes in this edition, which will also attract some of the leading documentary producers to Barcelona, such as filmmakers Raymond Depardon and Claudine Nougaret, who will receive the Docs d'Honneur in recognition of a lifetime achievement, and Victor Kossakovsky, who will be returning to the festival with the first screening in Spain of his latest film, Architecton, which premièred at the Berlinale.

This year's headliners also include documentary filmmaker John Wilson, who will be giving a masterclass as part of DocsBarcelona Industry.
