The exhibition explores the circumstances and the people who promoted modernity in Catalonia, with a particular emphasis on the figure of Joan Prats, who was crucial to the creation of the Fundació Joan Miró-CEAC.

It also reflects on the impact of the Spanish Civil War and the Franco regime, as well as the desire to recover the ideals of the modern movement of the 1920s and 1930s.
