‘Antoni Tàpies. The Perpetual Movement of the Wall’

Continuing the inquiry that began in the exhibition Antoni Tàpies. The Imagination of the World, now the monographic project Antoni Tàpies. The Perpetual Movement of the Wall examines the 1950s with the goal of offering new perspectives on a time of major changes in the artist's practice.

The exhibition studies four solo exhibitions that Antoni Tàpies held during that decade, each with very different groups of works and different production solutions.

The divergence among these approaches and the particular circumstances in which each of them developed enable Tàpies’ works to be connected to broader debates on modern architecture, industry, graphic design and editorial composition, the urban space and certain lifestyles in that period.
