Based on a local and global historical journey through natural history museums, from cabinets of curiosities to modern natural science museums, Nature or culture?reflects on the evolution of the relationship between humans and nature.

The exhibition, produced by the Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona, features the Museum’s emblematic collections, such as the skeleton of Avi, an elephant that was a Zoo celebrity long before Floquet de Neu, and a diorama of the last two falcons to live in the bell tower of Santa Maria del Pi, to give some examples.

The exhibition not only aims to show collections, but also to raise questions about what role collections and natural science museums of the future should play and the social and climate challenges they need to address.

El dimarts 19 de desembre, s’obre al públic el Centre Martorell d’Exposicions després de la rehabilitació de l’edifici que ha acollit el museu públic més antic de Catalunya. L’exposició relata la història dels museus de ciències naturals, des dels gabinets de curiositats fins als moderns centres de ciència, en connexió amb l'evolució del coneixement, la societat i la ciència. Un diàleg entre el món i Barcelona a través de la història del Museu i el parc de la Ciutadella.
